We have many Mallards coming to our backyard fence to be fed during the winter. They sure can fight amongst themselves be it to defend their mates or simply to hog the food. It appears, however, that they have no wish to drop the gloves with the much smaller, but very feisty Merganser with its this thin serrated bill.
