I previously posted several images and SERIES of a Black (melanistic) Chipmunk (Blackie). This little fella/gal was quite aggressive, especially towards other (normal) Chipmunks and birds that would try to steel the seeds we put out for them. However, Blackie met its match when a small Red Squirrel decided to join the fray.

The following six images depict some of the activity (antics) observed at a hollow log (prop) on and in which some of us had strategically placed some peanuts.

Top Image: Blackie comes flying out of the hollow log being chased by the Red Squirrel (Red).


Red checks to see where Blackie went. Not seeing Blackie at the top, Red ...............


......... went back down the tunnel to check if Blackie is there. Red then goes to check the area around the log and upon spotting Blackie, it chases it away


A normal Chipmunk (Chippie) takes this opportunity to check out the tunnel.


Chippie goes to the top to check if the coast is clear.
