There are two R-t Hummingbirds that frequent my flower gardens and feeder. This one has a red dot on its throat. I'm not sure if that indicates it to be a juvenile male. The other one has a full white throat; hence, a female. The female has taken ownership of my yard and can often be seen to chase the young male away. She is constantly on the lookout for intruders and when she hears one approach, she ruffles her feathers and commences the chase as soon as she sees it. She often just sits on our cloths line for a rest after feeding on the flowers or just to oversee/guard her fiefdom. In this image, I captured the young one as it approaches my feeder, which is located amongst my flowers.
