Tree images of my very first Boreal Owl. Note: The Owl was found dead in the snow a few days after these shots were taken. The general opinion seems to be that the owl headed this far south because of a scarcity of food up north. It was probably malnourished;hence, in a weakened condition it may have succumbed to the very cold weather we have been having.
First (above) image - Close-up of the owl.
Shot taken in the morning. Note: the owl is still sitting on and warming up the mouse or vole which it ate later in the afternoon. (Note: the tail of the mouse/vole below the owl)
Shot taken mid-to-late afternoon with the owl minus the mouse/vole which it had eaten by then.
