Sometimes known as the "Whitney Split Breech Action" Manufactured 1871-1881. Laidley's Patent was a design "improvement" on the Remington Rolling Block Action. The total production made is estimated to be less than 100. The box of tools shown were used in more recent times to load the cartridges for this rifle. Note the paper patched bullet mold. In the lid of the box is the template to cut the paper patches. The barrel and action have matched serial numbers. The barrel is 32-3/8 inches long; the length of pull is 13.5 inches; total weight is approximately 9.5 pounds.
