Maynard Mid Range 40 - 70 on 1873 Action

This Maynard rifle with a 32 inch heavy barrel was called a Mid-Range rifle. The case demonstrates the rather thick rim designed to fill that .10 inch gap beteeen the barrel and action. This type of case was Berdan primed. Later, Maynard used a what is called a standard thinner rim in their 1882 Models.
