Restored John Brooks Kentucky Rifle

This 43-inch, straight octagon barrel rifle in .47 caliber with plain sugar maple stock was made by journeyman John Brooks of Lancaster Township, PA ca. 1815-1830. The original flint to percussion conversion lock was missing. The patch box cover was also missing as was the eight pointed silver hunter star inlay on the cheek piece. The wrist was badly fractured and needed stabilization before any other work be could done. The iron wrap-around on the foreend is an early repair probably done at the same time the rifle was converted to percussion. Work done by Jim Burgess and Don Miller.
