Here is a wonderful cased 1st Model Maynard with an F. Wassmann full length scope. The case contains two compartments, and upper for the Breech Piece, barrels with accessories and lower for the F. Wassmann full length telescope and accessories. The F. Wassmann scope mounts are offset to allow the ocular end of the scope to clear the hammer - also of interest is the actual ocular lens holder which slides in and out of the scope body. This is an option that makes capping the nipple very easy should the shooter opt not to use the Maynard Tape Primer. Another very interesting item on this particular 1st Model Maynard is the stamp of William Putnam McFarland in the bottom of the patch box recess - called a "Trap" in Maynard literature. All in all - a superb example of an early cased Maynard.
