M.S. Hendricks Maynard in .22 Long Rifle Rim Fire

For unknown reasons, Merton S. Hendrick changed the spelling of his last name to Hendricks. We have not found any documentation to explain why. This particular gallery shows an 1882 Maynard receiver with a Hendricks marked .22 Long Rifle Rim Fire chambered barrel. The part octagon barrel is 25 1/2 inches long with 10 3/4 inch octagonal breech. Probably the most interesting thing on this rifle, besides the decorative barrel bands and exquisite wood, both in figure and detail work, is the 1/2 inch diameter telescope. It is 14 3/8 inches long and so petite that it enhances the overall appeal of the little Maynard. Hendricks had a reputation for building his own telescopes and mounts. The telescope is equipped with end caps to protect the objective and ocular lens.
