( KHS '60 & '61 reunion pics )

Please pass this email on to other classmates.
I'd like to keep this going, adding their responses to this list or one of yours...
as a reminder that hopefully for all of us, we have many years ahead to

It was a pleasant surprise to see you walk in unexpectedly to the restaurant, Tremaine.
May you have a wonderful new year too.

Very sad news Roy, thanks for keeping us informed.
Sometimes we just won't know of these unfortunate things without friends doing so.
Last saw and talked to Fred the beginning of this year at a small get-together.
Frederick, or Zuk as I liked to call him, was his usual quiet and unassuming self and looked well and in good spirits.
Pearl, Muriel, my condolences to the family also.

Great to hear you and Robert are happy and doing well Brenda.
Wishing Robert a speedy recovery after his surgery.

Pearl, Leslie, Pam, Mahalo for the good holiday wishes

Noted in previous months' blogs of the passing of two of our classmates.
Their obits are now in the newspaper edition.

To all classmates, their families and good friends... have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
It's been a sometimes great, but oftentimes tumultuous 2018.
Here's to 2019 being hopefully much better.
Mahalo to all who've emailed into the blog and those who haven't but have taken the time to view and enjoy it.

Happy Holidays to all dear classmates and families!
This is just a quick note to send our aloha and wishes for a peaceful and health-filled 2019.
As we get older, we recognize that our minds may still be as powerful as a jet engine, yet somewhat hampered by our
Volkswagen Bus bodies, thus we can appreciate honoring and acknowledging news of transitions, whether celebratory
or the sadness of loss.

Robert and I continue our commitment to help daughter (Hawn flight attendant) by being here in Nevada for teenaged
granddaughter with day-to-day needs.
We have, however, grown to love our home and the Henderson/Green Valley area in which we live!
It also provides welcomed interaction with Hawaii transplants.
Best of all is belonging to a hula halau led by our classmate Pauline Kekahuna’s son Vincent and daughter BJ and
touching base with delightful Carolyn Amoy!
Our halau performed at a Christmas Concert at the Orleans Hotel on December 1 with the awesome Weldon Kekauoha,
who flew in to perform.
My cousin Patrick Ka’ano’i opened the wonderful celebration singing “I Am Hawaii,” and it was so touching to have
3 generations of the Kekahuna Ohana dance; first Pauline, joined by BJ, then granddaughter Tiare.
Hardly a dry eye in the ballroom of 500+ Hawaiian hearts!
Next Sunday we will celebrate Pauline’s 76th birthday with a BIG BASH! She is truly precious!

Robert has to face hip replacement surgery soon, after which I will care for him as tenderly as he cared for me during
my cancer journey.
We count our blessings and find much to be grateful for.
Reading Martin Buell’s Midweek story just proves that our classmates have courage and grit and truly care about others.
What a beautiful story!
So, blessings all around!
Be well and take good care, dear classmates.

Happy Holidays,
Brenda (Ignacio) and Robert Gore

Hi Hal,

I join everyone in thanking you for all you do to keep our classmates informed of what's going on and in touch with each other.
I sure wish I knew about Martin's work to help children years ago so we could have gotten together with him and listen to what
he had to say so we would be more knowledgeable and aware.
I would have liked to know more for myself too!!!
Hope he can join us at one of our lunches.
I'll be in Hawaii April 2 to May 16.
Hope we have a lunch then and that Martin can be there.
I sure have lots to learn.....maybe kinda late but better late than never.....right?

Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas and all the best in 2019 and always.

Love and regards from Canada,

December 24, 2018

Good to hear you and yours are doing well Clarence.
Enjoy the holidays and have a great new year.

Thanks from all of us Lou.
Same to you and Ray

Thanks for the heads-up on the article re: Martin.
Missed that particular one probably because I was off-island.
Below the link to that article.

Thanks Charlene.
I've posted your photo on the pbase website.
Link to that photo below.

Good to hear Jean is doing fine Pearl.
Thanks for checking and letting us know.

Best wishes to you too Roy.

Have a safe and great holiday season the rest of this year everyone.

Wishing you all,

Merry Christmas and have a Happy, Healthy New Year!

On our side, we remain reasonably healthy, the usual grumbles about getting younger, and family members are healthy,
working and/or going to school. Travel, volunteer work and family involvement continue to occupy our days and
I'd guess that your lives are similar at this stage.

Be well, and take care...Much Aloha!

Dear Harold and friends, cant believe 2018 is ending and the devastating loss of amicable gentle Wally Nakaoka whom
I've had the honor of knowing since the 4th grade at Waikiki Elementary School and the senseless loss of Ernest Urata,
Deepest sincerest condolences and prayers to the Nakaoka and Urata family.

I have not been able to keep up to date with Harold's blogs and we warmly thank this dedicated kind classmate for
keeping us well connected, we cannot do without you Harold.
Anyway, having not read all the blogs, I am remiss in not mentioning back in July about our hardworking palolo Irish-Chinese
classmate who was on the front page of July 4, 2018 midweek issue highlighting "the school that Buell built".
Martin is the founder and grandmaster of Universal Kempo-Karate Schools Association of Knowledge and Discipline who
inspires his students both here and abroad to grapple with the impossible.
Martin's business face is only a facade on the front page that belies his soft spoken handsome baby face high school looks
that I recall in intermediate and high school home room classes.
Martin opened his first school at Pacific Palisades community center then years later moved to Kuahao place in Pearl City.
Martin estimates he has around 500 students throughout Hawaii with satellite schools in Kalihi, Mililani, Waipahu, Kapolei, Kaneohe,
Kea'au and Waimea on the Big Island and close to 3000 students throughout the continental U.S. and Barbados, West Indies.
His heart remains with the children.
Some students are special needs cases and he offers weekly classes to adults.
Martin is a retired marine machinist who worked at Pearl Harbor naval shipyard.
Most of his money goes back to the foundation.
Bravo! Imua!
Martin, what an honorable and incredible accomplishment.
Busy as you are, we hope that you will give us the honor of joining and meet ing with us one day soon. Keep well and warm blessings
to you and your family always.

Mele kalikimaka meka hau'oli makahiki in 2019.
Always keep safe with the best of health, happiness and every blessing to you and yours.

Thanks Arline, glad you and hopefully others are enjoying the blog and Mahalo for the good wishes.

Really fun get-together Gerri, Mahalo for organizing it and thanks for your good wishes too.
Additional photos of get-together from Gerri posted on pbase site, link on old post below.

Very sad passing of another classmate and friend.
Wallace Nakaoka lost his gallant battle with his long illness a few days ago.
His brother, a former long-time next-door neighbor, said services will be private.

Thanks for the heads-up on the concerts Warren.
Too late for the 12/04 date but still have the 12/15 one for those on that side of the island.

Save the date.
