My youngest son, Alex (age 37), ran in his first marathon yesterday in Louisville, KY, USA. He flew in from Chicago and I drove over from Lexington to provide support, document the event and cheer him on. He FINISHED!!! Over eight thousand folks participated, but only 800 did a full marathon, the rest did the mini-marathon. The course was pretty neat, they ran through Churchill Downs (home of the KY Derby) and through several parks and across the river into Indiana and back. This is very near the end of the race with less than two miles to go. This event was part of the preparation for the 132nd running of the Derby next Saturday. A hot air balloon race also was scheduled, but had to be postponed due to high winds aloft.
