"On Tuesday, June 9th, a memorial service was held in the little chapel, after which the company gathered round the stone itself where the Bishop of Newcastle conducted a brief service of dedication. Many clergy were present, several relatives of Westgarth Forster, and among others Professor Louis, Dr. Smythe, and Dr. Raistrick. After tea in the Church Institute, some half dozen speakers paid tribute to the memory of the man and of his work. It was stated that a small surplus remained from the fund raised, and it was hoped to increase this to £25 to provide for the care of the grave."
