13 cm Victorian (ca 1860) specimen of quartz with pyrite and dolomite. ex Thomas Bellerby Wilson. Probably Shap area, Cumbria.

This is specimen is from the Philadelphia Academy collection, No. 2209. The exact location is not specified but the "jacketed" character of the quartz is very similar to recent finds from the Shap Blue Quarry, described and illustrated in UKJMM, No 33, 2012, p 12.

Shap blue was apparently quarried from 1882: http://www.cumbriacountyhistory.org.uk/township/shap
