As the herd was leaving the waterhole, two large females noticed us and approached within a meter of James, our tracker, sitting on the front fender. I was fascinated and concerned enough for his and our safety that I forgot to take any shots of them at that close distance. Solly, our ranger, started the engine and raced it to tell the elephants we were not afraid. Fortunately, they got the message and backed off.
