Taken in Rockledge, FL. These guys are really hard to catch on the ground. They hop around like robins, moving very quickly. Looked like they were caching peanuts all over the place. They'd take 4 or 5 in their beak and then rush back into the scrub to hide them everywhere. Sometimes they'd chase each other around. It seemed like only certain ones would actually come to my hand.

After I visited the sanctuary, I found out that feeding scrub jays is illegal! It was fun while it lasted, but something I won't repeat now that I know better.
