Photos from the Festival of Owls held at the Houston Nature Center in Houston, MN. There were photo sessions with several species of owls and a class on owl photography led by Christian Artuso. As part of the class, we were going to go out and find wild owls, but the weather turned bad with dense fog and rain/freezing rain so unfortunately we were unable to do that. These photos are all of captive owls. It's a really great and unique opportunity to photograph owls, which is usually difficult in the zoo or raptor center due to poor lighting, distracting and unflattering backgrounds, etc. These owls are courtesy of the Raptor Education Group and World Bird Sanctuary. Many thanks to the handlers who were very helpful and accommodating, and to the Houston Nature Center for hosting the festival!
