In the mid-20th Century The Salvation Army had a fairly strong presence in the Appalachian region of Kentucky, including this corps in Middlesboro. My parents were stationed at the corps in nearby Harlan, Kentucky from 1949-51. All of the corps in this region have been closed. That is my parents' Jeep station wagon in front of the building.
