This was taken in a coal mining village near Harlan, Kentucky. Myrtle is shown at the left, playing her accordian and leading youngsters on a march during Vacation Bible School. Typically, Mom went to one mining camp while Dad went to another. Each would take one of the boys (David or Walter) along. Since Mom didn't drive, we would walk along the railroad tracks from Harlan to the mining camp.
