I remember it well. When I ran my two marathons in '79 & '80 I was determined to finish with a smile on my face. And I did. Doesn't look like this fellow cared about the smile ;=)

wow - the runner to escape darkness - superb decision to duplicate and blur - the strenuous face, the blurred seconds and meters left behind with every step - I love it.

Well, it is not visible. What is obvious is that the deprived runner feels bad.
Your processing - and the doubled runner - paradoxically makes him look more solitary in his pain.
