White-faced Storm-Petrel, Brookline Bird Club Pelagic Trip, August 2010

White-faced Storm-Petrel (Pelagodroma marina)breeds on island in the eastern and southern Atlantic (and in the Pacific), and is a rare but regular visitor to offshore waters of the northeastern and mid-Atlantic U.S. states. A total of 22 were seen over two days on a Brookline Bird Club pelagic trip from Hyannis, Massachusetts, 28-29 August 2010, which was (and still is, I think), the high count for this species in North America. These photos were taken 29 August 2010, about 107 miles southeast of Nantucket, just beyond the edge of the continental shelf.
