"What are you doing here?" I'd hear that question from pretty much everyone who didn't know. It became clear that people associated my presence at WS100 with crewing Scott, and they knew he wasn't running this year, so what was I doing here? It was amusing...when I'd answer, "I'm pacing Chris Fagan.", there would be a pause and you could sense from their expression that their thought process was going along the lines of, "Am I supposed to know who that is?" I'd then introduce them to Chris.
Chris lives in North Bend, WA with her husband Marty and son Keenan. Team Chris also included Chris' niece, Lindsey, who helped crew and look after Keenan. This was Chris' first WS100 and second 100 miler. Both Chris and Marty have recently stepped up their training and it's paid off. The previous weekend, Marty ran Mohican 100 and came in 3rd overall. Chris adjusted her original time goals due to the heat, ran a smart WS100 while battling many forms of adversity and finished in 27:39. Below are photos of the Fagans as I tagged along with them...
