September 7th 2012 marked the third anniversary of the UCI Quebec ProTour Race and Quebec City welcomed back the riders for the 25th stage of the UCI World Tour. This year competition would crown a new winner since last year’s winner Philippe Gilbert wasn’t present for the race. The race consisted again of 16 laps on the same course as the two previous years, including the Côte-de-la-Montagne steep hill, for a total of 201.6 kilometres. The race was mostly lead by a breakaway group of 7 riders until the the last 2 laps, where favourite teams catch up the breakaway and tried to put their leaders in front. The expected favourite Peter Sagan (#51; Liquigas-Canondale; SVK) really tried hard to push for the win at the end, but missed some energy to reach the riders in front which were Simon Gerrans (#81; Orica-Greenedge; AUS) and Greg Van Avermaet (#27; BMC Racing Team; BEL). In the end, Simon Gerrans won the race in a time 4:53:04, while Van Avermaet finished in second place with the same time accorded. I hope you will enjoy the photos of this race which was held mostly in the beautiful environment of the Old Part of Quebec City.
