September 9th 2011, the UCI Tour stopped in Québec city for the big showdown between some of the best cyclists on the planet. It was the second year that the race was taking place in Québec city and people came in a big number to encourage the cyclists. This year a supplementary lap was added at the demand of the cyclists, so the race consisted of 16 laps on the same course as last year. The steep ascent of Côte de la Montagne consisted one of the main point of interest where the crowd gathered to watch the cyclists closely. This year winner was Philippe Gilbert (#1; Omega Pharma-Lotto; BEL) in a time of 5hr 3min 8 sec. Robert Gesink (#21; Rabobank; NED) finished in second place only 3 seconds behind the winner.
