September 11th, Montreal city welcomed the UCI world Tour for a second year. The race took place two day after the Québec city race, which saw Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma-Lotto ) from Belgium win to take first place in the overall UCI ranking. In Montréal, Gilbert finished third to assure his lead and affirm to the rest of competitors that he was the best rider for 2012 on the UCI Tour. The race was won by Portuguese rider Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa (Movistar) in a last second finish with Frenchman Pierrick Fedrigo (FDJ). The course was the same as last year as riders had to face the steep hills of Mount Royal.
