A BNSF SD40-2 leads a coal load down the east slope of Crawford Hill and over the Niobrara River around the east slope horseshoe. The train will climb a short but steep little hill and head for the yard at Alliance, NE

It's a dark and gloomy autumn morning on Crawford Hill. Soon rain will be falling and I'll pack my camera away and head back to Colorado. Quite a contrast from the day before, which was clear, crisp, and brilliant.
