In early March, 2020, just before the crazy outbreak of corona virus, I managed to take half of a vacation. The first part of that vacation included a night photography workshop hosted by Atlas Obscura and National Parks at Night, and was located in Borrego Springs, Ca. Borrego Springs is home to Galleta Meadows, which is an installation of more than 100 large metal outdoor sculptures. The sculptures primarily represent ancient animals, going back to dinosaurs, which may have roamed the area in the past. The sculptures are great subjects for light painting at night. And, in theory, the sky above Borrego Springs is quite dark. We were there during a full moon, and most of the time had varying amounts of clouds above us. On the last morning there I took a few daylight pictures as well, at the end of the gallery.
