Zion National Park is one of the last of the popular photographic locations in the U.S. that succumbs to the will of autumn. With its abundance of decidous trees, a meandering river, and towering sandstone cliffs it is an amazing place to be at this time of year. This was my first autumn trip here and, despite hearing many complaints among returning photographers about this being a down year, I found it fantastic nonetheless. The only bummer was the fact that the maples had all dropped their leaves before I arrived so I missed out on their displays of red. Highlights of the trip included watery treks to the Subway and the Virgin Narrows. Both are fantastic locations that offer scenery unlike anywhere else I can think of and I'd highly recommend them for the adventurous (particularly the Subway).
