Nevada's Valley Of Fire state park is a photographers dream. I like to call it the land of the baby arches. With sandstone so soft and porous most of the park's formations have eroded to the point that they look like hunks of red swiss cheese! Small arches, ranging from a few inches to as large 10-15 feet in height are everywhere. There are literally hundreds of them...maybe even thousands if you look hard enough. If red isn't your favorite color, don't despair, there are many areas where pinks, blues, greens, yellows, magentas, etc., etc. can be found in psychedelic sandstone formations in the north end of the park. This park contains some of the most colorful sandstone that I've seen to date and the glow that gets taken on before sunrise and after sunset is nothing short of amazing. If you're ever in Vegas, the 45 minute drive northeast of town is definitely worth your time. Just beware...you may never want to go back to Sin City!!
