I went to Daytona Beach with my collegue Christina, to record the Bethel JROTC Drill Team as they competed in the 2001 Drill team competition at the unarmed Challenge level, for a Documentary for our PBS Tv station KYUK. It was great, the kids worked hard and placed 3rd overall in their division, the following year they won first place and now are trying even harder to place in the Masters level. Excellent Job for a small group of kids in a small town with a population of 6,500, located 400 miles from the nearest large city (Anchorage), in the middle of the tundra, in western Alaska. we are proud of them, and also the Adult leadership that nurtured them and raised the bar to a higher standard, that they proved they could rise up to.
