Of all the drag racing photos I took back in the early 1970's, this is my favorite. Considering what we had to work with back then, it's as much a technical achievement as it is aesthetical. I had to prop my Pentax Spotmatic F against a sign post and hold it as securely as possible for the 1 full second exposure on Kodachrome 64. Just as the shutter closed, the cars launched. You can see the green light already on the starter tree. This car has since been purchased by Lee Fabry in CA and restored to new condition using this and other photos I took to match the paint scheme and colors.
