Wonderful memories and wonderful photos!
Thanks for visiting and your comments.
Get a life with the genghis insanity!
Wanted to say Thank you for the kind words, That meant allot!
Great photos, wie immer! I think I like the darker (black) frame better around your beautiful photos, but maybe that is just me.
Thanks for your comments Markus. It is called thursday challenge because they are part of entries for a challenge, under the forum pad section. Regards,
Your stained glass windows you posted on the Pbase forum are beautiful...tried to find the gallery that they were in. Like the biking shots...I used to cycle a lot, and did a cross country trip. Last major trip was from Washington down to the SF Bay Area.
my name is grompe, (first name:Hans-Joachim, but all call me Achim)too. I found your Website and some picture from LEINEFELDE, the birthplace from your father? My Father and my grandparents come from Leinefelde too. I think we have the same roots. Some pictures from me and my Familie you can found on www.achim-grompe.de
(sorry for my bad english)
Just blown away.
Markus, thank you for visiting my gallery.
I have watched your photos and I agree - you are an artist, I like your amazing work.
Markus, you are from the great state of Oregon! So am I. A beautiful state with lots of history, not to mention great photo opts. Have you been to Sunset Beach, near Charleston? Loved your winning shot.
Tena koe Marcus,
Thanks for the comment in my site. Heck, you have an amazing range of work in here, it will take me a long but fascinating time to roam thru them all. The few I have already seen are stunning.......The Pukeko for example......
Ka kite ano
Hi Markus, thanks for the comments. So you're the window washer guy :) I remember seeing one in the forum. Lovely memorable shots!
I'm jealous of how good you are.
About the photo you commented in my B/W ARGENTIC gallery (here:
it doesn' refer to Starwars but it's an underground vue: a lift platform coming down into a 100m depth shaft for a hydro-electric dam project (I was at the far bottom). The last one of the gallery comes too, from that project: a vue inside a (quasi-horizontal) tunnel when installing the shielding tubes (2.5m diameter). Memories,memories...
Thanks for having visited my gallery.
I have great respect for your work.
Thanks very much for your comments and votes in my galleries, they much appreciated.
You have nice pictures and will return to see more.
i showed my wife Robin the candlelight gallery, she enjoyed it a lot.

Looked through your site. Good work! Ken.
Hi Markus. Saw you in the NYT this week, congrats! Also trip to rome looks great, nice shots of st. peters. Sorry I was unable to do Ptlnd, was already a week away on that trip but I do look forward to that skanky brew house you talk about...
Deine Gotte Ursula
Thanks Marcus on your reply.
Early morning now. I will if its ok with you reply more on your letter to me on how the
Catholic church preserved the bible.
PS Got great pics on your site. Like the one with the girl levitating by the creek.
I think you have a few pictures in each gallery of real strength! However some pictures of lesser strength tend to pull down the overall quality of your galleries. I really enjoyed your experimentation with different techniques! young at heart, enjoy thou art!

Hello Markus !
Thanks for your kind words posted here
... you'll find an answer to your request there :)
Clear skies !
Hi Markus -- Thanks for your comment on
. I'll post the original if I ever find it!
regarding the color tones in web-images. I have found that the web-browser and the magnification make a difference. That is: if you look a the pictures in "original" magnification (there is a button beneath each pic), they look much better than at "large" or "medium". Similarly, the images look shitty in the AOL browser, best in Safari. So, it may not be what you are doing to the pictures before submitting them...
Thanks for your remarks. I am visiting my parents over the holidays and my mom is a docent at the Hirshhorn museum at the Smithsonian and I showed her your pallettes gallery and she really loved it. Finally have the time to set up a few galleries myself, though taking time to work out the tonal bugs despite sRGB. Thanks for the inspiration!
I'd love to visit a few of those Christkindlmarkts and stand around on a cold evening drinking Glühwein! (I am sooo partial to Bavaria.) Thanks for the wonderful holiday images.
Deine fhotogalerie ist super !
Ein berufsfotographer macht es nicht besser.
Viele gruse aus Belgiën.
I'm very happy to get your response! Thanks a lot! Markus! You are always distinguished in every field you dipped!
Hope we can enjoy more beutiful pictures here!:))
I'd bet that you would never had taken these pallette pictures with a film camera! VIVA digitals!! Ted
Thanks for the note. Ferry Falls can be seen on the Eagle Creek Hike, on the upper part of the walk (about 4 miles from the trail head). Its across the canyon, so it is hard to get close to. I took that picture with a telefoto lens.
Great work, especially the chamaleon picture and pacific_nw gallery!
Could you tell where is the ferry falls? It seems attractive! I wanna to enjoy that!
Thanks a lot!
I enjoyed your pictures and Markusian titles. Those "cute" fuzzy cacti can be deceiving...Aubrey touched one and played with its barbed needle until she had about nine in her fingers. Here I was trying to show her the beauty of the desert, but she got a little too close. I'll show her your pictures and gauge her reaction...I'm sure she'll smile.
Markus, your pictures are awsome!! Thanks for sharing.
Great Photos Marcus! The scenery ones are beautiful but, like my mom, I love to see the people pictures. It's nice to see what you've all been up to since we don't get to meet up in person too often. Keep sending the updates, they're fun to get. Love, Adele
The pooBah likes the pic of you and your brother with Kalama Daddys in today's new gallery!
The artist in you is really showing! I like the explorations of the mundane (all macro shots and the dishwater series). Sehr gut gemacht!
Weiter so! Viele Grüße aus Heppenheim von Jutta
Good stuff. Makes me want to haul out my camera and (try to...) give you some competition. Caroline
Hello Markus, very facinating pictures. It's always good to have a second profesion.
Hopefully this second message will be accepted better than the first one. It had been tild from the internet.
Great photos Markus. I agree with Steff, the NZ photos are the best so far.
Mary Jo Levy
Hi Markus, I checked out all the photos & only saw ONE with a person--the nice photo of upside down Maria. Like Aunt Jean, I like the people ones! Where did you see the Cheetah? Mary Jo
Wow, great pictures. Please add more. I may never get to these places, so it's fun to take a break at work, look at some pictures, and daydream. Thanks, Len Levy
Awesome, dad! It's really great to have a place to go to see some of your best photos. Those NZ ones are particularly beautiful. Love, Steff
