Craig's Hut

Craig's Hut on Mt Stirling, east of Mansfield in Victoria, was constructed for the 1982 movie "The Man From Snowy River". It fell into disrepair, but was rebuilt in 1993. It became one of the "must see" bits of Victoria'a High Country, before being destroyed by bushfire on 11 December 2006.

I have heard that the new hut isn't very faithful to the original. - Pity! I'll try to organise a trip back in December 2010. - New job, no leave! :-(

have heard that they did rebuild it for the tours run by local companies. You & I will both have to go back to check it out one day. Glenda - Ulladulla

Thanks! Not long after Craig's Hut was destroyed in the bushfires of December 2006, I heard rumours that it might be rebuilt. I have heard nothing since. Have you?

love your galleries, Craig's Hut is one of the most beautiful places to see. The view is amazing & well worth the trip up the top of the mountain. thanks for sharing. voted. Glenda - Ulladulla
