With that still-fuzzy head, it does look like a juvenile one. There are differences between crows and ravens, which are part of the crow "family" along with jays and magpies. Since you're an animal person, it might be worth Googling "difference between crows and ravens" for some interesting info. ;-)

Good catch. I've always called them crows too. I can't get a picture of them, they fly away too fast.
