The 2008 Essex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run and Harwich Family Festival, sponsored by GEM Motoring Assist took place on Sunday 7 September and was a great success despite inclement weather.
The event raised in excess of £30,000 for the county’s life-saving helicopter. Television actor and Charity Celebrity Patron John Bardon and his Eastenders co-star June Brown arrived to show their support for the event. June delighted the crowd by signing autographs, and both actors put on a show with Martin Day on the Essex FM stage on Harwich Green.
Despite the wet weather it is estimated that around 3,000 bikers took part in the County’s biggest motorcycle run to raise vital funds. In addition some 1,000 people dropped into Harwich to welcome the bikers and enjoy the event.
