Inspire 2011 @ Suffolk’s Cathedral
An exciting and innovative exhibition will fill St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds
from Wednesday 30 March to Wednesday 6 April. Impressive art work, created by children
from schools across Suffolk, will be on display and a programme of events will take place
throughout the week. Large scale ‘head’ sculptures have been created to reflect a range of
emotions linked to the story of Holy Week and Easter. Other artistic interpretations of the
theme including banners and beautifully written Biblical verses will transform the Cathedral.
‘Inspired by the success of the Spiritual Child exhibition in 2009, we wanted to have another
opportunity to encourage children to express themselves through a major art project at the
Cathedral,’ comments Helen Woodroffe, Children’s Education Officer at the Cathedral. ‘This is
a particularly exciting project as we are working in partnership with so many schools and
creative art experts.’
