A walk in Colchester starting from North Hill, then following the River Colne to East Bay.
My pictures show many aspects of Colchester both Old and New and how they blend into the modern town.
Swans and Seagulls on the River. People walking home from the Leisure Centre, The lake, Anglers solemnly awaiting the elusive fish. New Houses by the River on the site of Bypass Nurseries. The Siege House, with the bullet holes still clearly marked from the Siege of Colchester 1648 http://www.fiskes.co.uk/The_siege_of_Colchester.htm.
Marriage's Mill is now apartments. Also the Brewery on East hill is also apartments. Regency fronted Houses are now offices and restaurants Chinese and Thai. An Old drinking fountain still can be seen, although it hasn't been functional for many years. The Church of St James the Great stands proud near the top of East Hill; in the Grave yard I found an interesting tomb stone of a Francis Disney, I wonder if he was the Great Grand something or other to the famous Walt? Behind the Church they are building the new £20million Visual Arts Facility.
I have pictures of The Colchester Castle, Town Hall in the Distance. A new innovation to Colchester is the Russian General Store. My last pictures before I completed the circuit and back to North Hill, are of All Saints Church, now a Natural History Museum.
