This was the water tower for Arthur Loew's estate, which was Captain Delamar's estate prior to that. Arthur Loew's father, Marcus Loew had purchased the estate after Capatin Delamar died of an infection.
In 1957 Loew abandoned the estate house and moved to newer houses closer to the water.
The old mansion was a great place to explore, and I am sorry that I did not spend more time there but it was at the risk of getting your ass kicked by Old Man Davis, the caretaker.
One wing was deovted to an indoor garden and pool with a movie theater and shooting gallery in the basement.
In 1969 the mansion was wrecked and used as fill on a bluff of what was the Whitney estate and used to extend the property of the attorney who had broken up that estate.
To this day tiles, etc wash up on the beach.
I was in this tower once and most of it was taken up by a huge circular water tank from the time before town water made it that far.
