Hole-in-the-Wall Falls

Columbia River Gorge, Oregon USA

Located 0.35 mile beyond Cabin Creek Falls, this is actually a man-made waterfall, at least to some degree. The original waterfall (Warren Falls) would spray directly onto the Columbia River Highway, causing frequent washouts. Rather than relocating the highway, the decision was made to move the waterfall! In 1938 a tunnel was blasted through a cliff, Warren Creek was diverted through that tunnel, and voila!
