Number 708 a High Pressure wildland engine coming up Throckmorton's driveway circa 1969.
That's Pete Martin at the wheel. This engine was discovered at McPhails cement plant on a railroad flat car in San Rafael, and was purchased by MCFD because McPhails found that it wouldn't carry the weight required of a cement truck. Non syncro 5 speed transmission with manual 2 speed Brownie made this one a great climber, however, very slow on the Mt Tam roads. It was later involved in a accident and was totaled.
