This is the cropped image I posted originally.
One image only, slightly off focus. Gone in next frame. This is cropped to 16% of the original image area.
Landed 20 yards from me while I was taking dragonflies. (Thus the 300mm macro rather than a bird lens).
I saw it just before it landed. It saw me and startled.
I took one quick draw shot as I focused.
Second frame was nice and clear, but nothing but tree.
No vocalization. Time on limb less than 5 seconds.
I saw it fly to a pecan tree across a pond 75 yards away.
Could not locate again.
Size estimate: as a small to medium sparrow. somewhere
in the field to rufous-crowned range.
Flight Direct, efficient. Perhaps some flap/glide but minimal vertical bounce.
