Common summer resident, April through September, Uncommon in winter, primarily in the Coastal region but also larger lakes in the Lowlands and Mountains regions.
Habitat: Coastline, large lakes.
Best locations: Widespread.
Note: Breeds in the salt works at south end of San Diego Bay.
