Occasional to Rare winter visitor, November through March. Primarily found in Nearshore region, but also Coastal region (San Diego Bay).

Habitat: Shallow nearshore waters and bays.
Best locations: Point La Jolla, Bayshore Park (J Street) in Chula Vista, Coronado Cays.
