A good collection of photos which can be correctly ascribed to an adult female Antipodean Albatross Diomedea antipodensis as described by Warham and Robertson.

Of the subspecies (or species, depending upon your view) in the Wandering group, Amsterdam is eliminated by lack of dark cutting edge on bill. Tristan's is grayer on the back. The patterned back and all dark upperwing seems to eliminate Snowy (nominate Wandering) and male Gibson's and point to a female Antipodean form of the New Zealand Wandering Albatross as the likely identification. At least, that's what the experts are starting to agree upon...

What a great find! Looks a lot like a sub-adult Amsterdam, save for the lack of a dark nail on the terminal tip of the mandibles.
