7:40 PM. It was warm and humid. I was driving south through the city when a 269 came over the radio: Thunderstorm.

A pursuit ensued, except it was chasing me instead of the other way around. I needed to get to a vantage point a few miles ahead of it to capture it on film.

7:50 PM. I had a better idea. I'd capture it on digital. I looked in the rear view and it was right on my bumper. I hit the gas.

7:55 PM. I crossed the bridge, and one look told the story....I was too close. A white church steeple stood against the dark backdrop - from it came a voice: "be careful fool".

8:05 PM. With nowhere else to go and surrounded by water, I was finally out in front. It's party time.

I jumped out of the car and ran toward the beach. The place was deserted.

Gazing up the coastline, everything was clear. I mean what was about to happen was clear. The sky was anything but.

A downpour was coming.

I turned around and looked south....a placid scene for the time being......hey, you people at the end of the walk....get back inside. There's nothing to see here.

8:09 PM. It was still quiet....not what you'd expect - but these things have a way of changing faster than you can drop a doughnut.

8:11 PM. It's a wet ocean out there. It's fixing to get wetter.

And that was about the size of it. The storm came and went like hundreds of others. It's journey ended 40 miles south, where it was sent offshore to eventually dissipate.

Meanwhile, I'll just follow the weather and whatever else there is out there. It's my job.
