SiteLayout_Expansion.png

Site layout for the expansion. It is still years away and quite subject to change. The brand/model of the new panels (the existing panels are Canadian Solar) is arbitrary, picking the panels I almost bought for my current installation (Trina was 0.95/watt from separate vendor, Canadian solar was 0.8/watt from same vendor).

I want to go for tracking pole mounts (possibly a wind turbine mast as the pole) for the non-roof mounted panels if I can afford them, though I did ground mounts in the drawing.

Color coded for old/new location, old/new panel (plan to relocate 9 panels on top of main roof to new slots on roof and replace those with new panels). Also has penel labels - {ChargeController#}.{String#}.{Panel#}

I also want to make a 3-panel solar cart some day. 4 Group 31 batteries, a string of 3 full-size 240-260W panels, MPPT charge controller, and 1KW sine-wave inverter. This mini rig will probably cost $4,000. It is not man-portable like a Humless Sentinel is but it is pickup truck portable (it is 10x the storage, 4x the production, 1x the AC load capacity, x2 the cost as the Humless Sentinel). It would support 190W average 24/7 continuous usage (1.5A on AC) - that is a laptop, phone/gadget/AA chargers, a full size non-industrial fan, and two florescent or LED lights.

other sizes: small medium large original auto
