Oak Cottage

Blaise Hamlet, Henbury, Bristol

My car was picked up yesterday morning and taken to a body shop to get repaired. This morning I got a call from the hire firm the insurance uses and was told they had a car for me but it was a manual transmission! I have not drove a manual for over 10 years now. So after some haggling they got a car from another branch. I picked the car up and had a drive to A National Trust House called Nunnington Hall. It was nice and sunny and I got some lovely photos. The hire car is very nice but I will be glad when I get my car back!!

A real gingerbread house.
I prefer a manual every time. Living in France we have a LH drive and our 13year old Passat from the UK - RH drive, like Walter we both drive both cars without a problem. However, when in America we also enjoyed the automatic that we hired.
Hope your car gets well soon!

Intriguing the way you have framed this lovely old cottage with the branches of the tree.V

I drive both...here auto is the popular choice and if you get your drivers licence in one your not allowed to drive a manual unless you go through the whole process of testing again. I was surprised by the apparently more popular manuals in the UK & France, here it's the opposite.

Very nicely composed through the trees. A beautiful location. "V"
When I lived In England I had a company car and my car I brought from Germany, both had manual transmission, so I got to shift with both hands. I had no problem switching back and forth, but that was thirty years ago.

A very pretty shot; well done. (I love my manual transmission car, a VW GTI!)

This is absolutely gorgeous, Graeme. I love the trees which allow a peek-a-boo look at this idyllic place. I am so sorry to hear about your car problems.

Excellent composition and framing with the tree branches. Pretty colors as always. V

The branches of the tree compliment the beauty of this collage well. I like how the openings in the branches allow you to see various parts of the cottage while leaving the rest to the imagination. Voted
