THE BRIDGE HOUSE
This is the famous Bridge House and possibly the most photographed house in the lake district. The house which consists of one room upstairs and one room downstairs was built over Stock Beck to avoid land taxes. It is said that a family of six once lived in the bridge house. Once five mills where powered by Stock Beck. In 1926 a group of locals bought the house and handed it over to The National Trust so it could be cared for. It is now a National Trust Shop.
