This 106 foot tower is set on a small rise in a swamp in southeast Louisiana. It holds 61 bronze bells, the largest of which weighs 4730 pounds. The bells sounds every fifteen minutes, playing a variety of songs and hymns.
Yvonne asked about the carilloneurs, the bell ringers. Before Hurrican Gustav there were regular concerts here with carilloneurs coming from around the world to play. The park is privately owned and is a bird sanctuary with an information center on site with a full time attendant.
