Is This Good to Eat?

Not as sharp as it should be because I was laughing too hard. A photographer put his brand new 70-200mm with its brand new teleconverter on a picnic table as he was photographing a carousing bull moose and four cows. The moose took over the area near the picnic table and it was six worried hours before that photographer could retrieve the lens. We arrived back at the campground around 11 a.m. to find that photographer and several others trying to photograph the moose without the lens and picnic table in the image.

The moosealenni takes over. Pictures never really convey how big these guys really are - have to be seen in person. As a teenager in NH I watched one cross our chicken range and step over our 36 inch wire fence and then head for the river. I followed him about 100 feet away, but it was not until he crossed the river where we kids swam and it was up to my armpits when his belly began to touch the water. Only then did I really have a good idea of his size.

Same guy who was standing really close to him? Not too smart leaving your gear on the table. Mine is always with me. Funny shot, though!

wow! too funny! altho I have some sympathy -- we had a bull cow & two 2nd year twin calves descend upon our driveway on either side of my car. I had to go out, but decided maybe I'd stay home rather than trying to shoo them away! they are sooooo big.

What a story shot, Gayle! I can just imagine that photographer's anxiety over his lenses. The moose does seem to appreciate a good quality lens. :)
Best to you,
Dick:)
