The Ultimate Fighter

So my son Ian comes over last night and announces that he wants to begin training to become an Ultimate Fighter.
Unlike boxing, martial arts, or wrestling where there tends to be at least a little sign of structure to the madness;
ultimate fighters basically get in a cage and fight like a couple of animals until they beat one another to a pulp.
Needless to say I voiced a strong NAY.

Just a note to Anthony and Scott: In no way, shape, or form would I ever plead to my son not to take this route. He is an adult and is capable of making his own decisions. That being said I think I should be allowed an opinion whether you agree with it or not.

Scott, please read my previous comment.

Obviously you know little or nothing about the sport in the aspects of "getting in there and beating each other to a pulp" There are rules and regulations. Safeties in tact and a lot of skill that goes in to being a good fighter. There is also a lot of training and discipline involved. These are not caged animals and they are paid well in the big leagues (UFC, WEC). They know what they are getting themselves in to and it's their choice. No one is making them fight like Roman Gladiators. Nobody is threatening to "Beat you up". What I think Mr. HUss meant by his statement about a structured MMA class, is that you could learn something about the sport instead of spouting off ignorantcomments about something you have no clue about.

"Vast Improvement"? Well maybe if that's what most of the individials one associates with looks like. "Ignorant comments"? Who's to say who's ignorant in this matter? Do you know my family's background? And "benifit"? I guess we both know who might benefit in other areas of education. So now are you going to come and beat me up?

Looks like a vast improvement to me.
Seems he desires the character building process at any rate.
And properly educating yourself about a sport before you make ignorant comments about it might be the best way guide him,....as opposed to "motherhenning" him. You both could benifit from a structured MMA class.

Beating your brains around inside your skull does not do a body good. Better off being the promoter, collecting the $ and investing elsewhere. UF's are caged dogs.
